Espoma Organic Rose-Tone 6-6-4 - 5 lb Bag RT5 Review

I have used Rose Tone for several years, with good results.It is an organic, slow release fertilizer, and if you want, go ahead and buy it with confidence.It is used by many rose growers. To date, I have used about 25 pounds of Rose Tone per year.

HOWEVER, last year Rose Tone came in a 25 pound bag, with a 6-6-4 formulation (plus trace elements).Today, when I went to pick up another bag, imagine my surprise when the bag not only was 5 pounds lighter (20 pounds), but the formulation was changed to 4-3-2 (almost one half the potency).Now, instead of using only 0.75 cup of Rose Tone per plant on a monthly basis, the recommendation is to use 1.25 cups per plant!Ifdid the math, I would be using over two bags per growing season instead of one.And not only this -- when I paid for my new, lighter, less potent bag of Rose Tone, the price was still the same!In other words, Espoma (the manufacturer) did not use even a trace of integrity (in my opinion) when they shipped these new lighter, less effective bags of Rose Tone to area garden centers.

If Espoma had done things right, they would have just raised the cost of their product, not come off looking like they were trying to deceive their customers.So many other companies have used similar tactics to increase their profitability per unit.I'm not arguing that they don't haveright to do that.They do.But, to try to hide what they are doing, is not right.

So, now that you know this, go ahead and use Rose Tone.As for me, I am in the market for a reasonably priced, competitive product.As soon as I find it, Espoma may have lost a customer.Had Espoma not engaged in this sort of practice, I would have given Rose Tone a higher rating.
