Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass - 10 LB Review

Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass - 10 LBI had some yard work done and my lawn was damaged in the process. Most of the grass died but the weeds remained. I had TruGreen lawn service come in and treat for clover, dandelion and other weeds and fertilized. I also had 1 lime treatment. The grass that remained after the damage thrived but there were large bare spots. I went online to research grass and saw that this grass had zero percent weeds and since my lawn was currently weed free I did not want to sow grass seeds that contain weeds. It was a bit pricey but I decided to make the investment. I ordered it and it arrived exactly the date they said it would, 10 days from order date. I was planning on waiting until the fall around September to sow the seedsbut since the grass arrived in a rainy period I decided to plant it the same day it arrived. I spread the seeds and covered with Scotts Seeding Soil. Now 10 days later the grass is sprouting and so far no signs of weeds. I am happy with the results and I have no complaint.

Product Description:
"Midnight" Kentucky Bluegrass is the most Popular Blue Grass In America. Midnight is a unique compact-type variety grown in the plush Willamette Valley in Oregon to be distributed across the U.S. It posesses the qualities most desired by turf-grass professionals. Probably the most outstanding feature of Midnight Kentucky bluegrass is its unusually dark blue-green color giving it a rich color even under low maintenance conditions. Its high tiller density provides a thick carpet that will stand up to the abuses of athletic fields and high traffic. Sod producers and homeowners alike will enjoy Midnight's dwarf growth characteristics which result in fewer mowings and lower maintenance costs. This outstanding cultivar shows good resistance to leaf spot and stem rust, stripe smut and dollar spot. University trials have documented Midnight's heat and drought tolerance. Midnight performs well in sand or heavy clay soils. Like all bluegrasses, it performs best in soils with a pH of 5.5 to 8.0. Three to five lbs. N/1000 sq. ft./year is adequate in most areas of the United states. However, because of Midnight's dark genetic color, lower fertilizer rates will yield acceptable color. A balanced fertilizer of 3:1:2 ratio of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) with sulphur is recommended in most geographic locations. 'New turf: 2 - 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet or 80 -120 lbs per acre'Overseeding: 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per 1,000 square feet or 40 - 60 lbs per acre for broadcast overseeding'Plant when soil temperature reaches 55 degrees in spring up until a minimum of 8 weeks before frost in fall
