Marble by James G. Brett - 0010 Stormy Rose Review

I'm a yarn snob... I admit it... If it isn't natural fibers (preferably alpaca or a cashmere/cotton blend), then I usually won't even look at it.

However, my son is very sensitive to textures.He wants me to knit him a blanket and even though I have literally hundreds of pounds in the softest alpaca, cashmere, pima cotton, and bamboo yarns you would ever want to work with, he finds those either too "scratchy" (in the case of alpaca and any animal fiber) or "too hard" in the case of bamboo or cotton or silk.

Yesterday, I paid a visit to my local yarn store which only deals with "high-end" yarns and found myself drawn to the beautiful colorways of Marble and Marble Chunky.The thick generous skeins cried out to be fondled (no "please don't squeeze the Charmin" here!) and I was amazed at how soft it was.The cost -- particularly relative to the yardage and size of skeins -- was very reasonable so I took a chance and bought up a couple of skeins to play with and started working with it last night.

I am hooked!This stuff is really wonderful to work with.The marble colorways knit up beautifully and look like high end designer hand-dyed yarns.It is really really soft and very satisfying to work with.I'm knitting a scarf with a reversible cable pattern and it knits up soft and thick and fluffy.

But the ultimate test of this yarn comes from my son -- would he like it.Despite his very discriminating tastes for feel and texture, he gives this yarn 2 thumbs up.Victory is MINE!

So if you want a cost-effective but sophisticated looking yarn for someone who is very sensitive to animal fibers or for projects which require the ease of machine washing, give this stuff a try... you'll be very satisfied and you will be able to create beautiful colorful projects without needing to be a master knitter or crocheter.

A quick word about Paradise Fibers -- the vendor of this yarn as of this writing... I bought Lantern Moon knitting needles with them and they were the most friendly vendor I have encountered here on Amazon.They provide great prices, excellent service and fast shipping.

I am not going to throw out my alpaca stash for this stuff.However, I'm very happy to have found a really good-quality soft acrylic yarn that satisfies my son that I enjoy working with and that isn't going to make me apply for TARP funds....All in all, you can't go wrong with buying this yarn from this vendor.
